Pam & Polly
I made these two by using the hand building technique to form and sculpt the shape of these two to look realistic. I really like them and it is almost like they are alive. I named these two Polly and Pam because both of their names start with a P like the fruit pear. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Mike Wazalski and Jen
These two were actually test subjects for glazing, but they turned out looking so beautiful I had to add them to my work. I saw the first one, Mike Wazalski, as the one and only Mike Wazalski from Monsters INC so I had to name it after that. The others name I thought should be very snooty and full of themselves so I named it Jen. I made them by using the hand building technique to form their faces and features.
Linsey and Lenard
Lemon and limes have been two of my favorite fruits for a while so I thought why not make twins of these two fruits through sculpture. I used the same technique to make all my art which was the hand building technique and I scored and slipped all the eyes and lips for all my artwork. I named them after the fruits, lemons and limes, the lemon is Lenard and the lime is Linsey.
Tom and Jerry
These two are my least favorite. I still enjoy how they turned out and how they look but they don't look exactly like I expected they would. I made them to look like apples but Tom turned out looking like a tomato and Jerry looking like a clown. Still I think they are quiet interesting and unique.
Oliva
Olivia was probably my favorite mug I made. I really enjoyed how it turned out and how it looked in the end. It seemed very simple and unique at the same time. I named her off an orange and I enjoyed making it using the hand building method.
Artist Statement
For my Winter Art Show of 2022 I have made multiple pieces that all correspond to each other. My pieces all have faces on them, making them all look alive. The first time I made a piece like this was back in early winter 2021 when I saw these clay faces on Tik Tok. I thought they were very abnormal and weird but also very unique and gorgeous. I never saw anything like them before so I decided to make my art show off of them. All of my pieces are made by hand building. The eyes and lips I put on with the score and slip technique, and the mugs and bodies made by hand. I want viewers to see that art can take many different varieties and forms. Also stating that nothing has to be perfect and normal. But to be yourself.
